Coco Gauff advanced to semi-finals by defeating Ons Jabeur in the French Open on Tuesday.

Gauff lost the opening set, but recovered to win 4-6 6-2, and 6-3 against Jabeur. Ons is still trying to win the Grand Slam title.

Moreover, the 20-year old Gauff, has ended up in the final four at the Roland Garros for the second time. She will be either facing Iga Świątek or Markéta Vondroušová in the final four on Thursday (June 6).

“I was definitely trying to be more aggressive. She was playing really well the whole match,” Gauff said in her on-court interview. “She was hitting a lot of winners which is something I’m not used to against anybody.”

Jabeur was ahead in the match after winning the first set, but Gauff played well in the second set and won it. In the third set, Gauff took the lead and was close to winning, but got nervous towards the end. Despite that she managed to win the game.

Additionally, Jabeur saved two match points, one with a dangerous drop shot, and had a break point to return to serve at 5-3. However, the Tunisian’s hopes of a comeback shattered when she failed to block a smash on Gauff’s third match point.

“I got a little bit tight on the last couple of match points, but I think I did what I needed to do to win the match,” Gauff admitted.

According to Opta Ace, she is the youngest player to reach three or more consecutive Women’s Singles semi-finals at Grand Slam events since Maria Sharapova, who featured in four between Wimbledon 2006 and Roland Garros 2007.
